What Codco Taught Me About Real Estate Marketing

I’ve discovered that unless writing is something that comes fairly easily to you, it’s hard to maintain a blog. I’m about to try again. Maybe it’s a bit like quitting smoking, you keep trying until you are successful.

I’m sure I’m behind the eight ball on this, but this week I discovered YouTube. Sure I’d heard of it but hadn’t bothered to check it out. That all changed when I heard a CBC radio interview where they mentioned that Codco could be found on You Tube. Since I’m a longtime Codco fan and haven’t had a fix in years I immediately logged on and took a long walk down memory lane. Here's a little gem that I found, the quality is pretty bad, but it's still worth watching. I could go post a few more links but I’ll let you do the searching. From there I found this great rendition of Sonny's Dream by Emmylou Harris, Delores Keane and Mary Black. And finally John Prine! One of my favorite singer songwriters of all time. There’s a whole host of JP clips but these are two that I wanted to share John Prine, and May 24th for some Newfoundlanders . Just to be clear, on the May 24th video, that’s not me and my buddies .

That’s just a little taste of what's great and passable on YouTube. If you haven’t checked out You Tube, try it, there’s thousands of gems in there.

And you ask, what’s this all got to do with real estate? So far nothing.

But Reggie Nicolay from http://www.mytechopinion.com/ a blog that explains technology as it pertains to the real estate industry says YouTube is turning out to be a noteworthy tool for Real Estate. He’s not just saying that because they’ll host your video for free. He’s saying it because YouTube has become an online destination. And not just for teenagers. In November, iMedia Connection covered an eMarketer report dispelling myths about the average YouTube visitor. eMarketer said, ages 35 to 64 make up the largest audience, with ages 25 to 34 coming in second. As if that isn’t enough, according to Nielsen NetRatings, YouTube was the fastest growing Web brand the first half of this year. Compile that with ComScore Media reporting over 60% of YouTubes visitors earn 60k or over annually. Now what do you think of YouTube and its benefit to Real Estate Marketing?   The above excerpt is based on a posting to the Ubertor Real Estate Blog

So folks it looks like the next time you sell your home, thanks to Codco, it might be via YouTube.
