Outdated kitchens make homes more difficult sell (or rent if it is an investment property). My home stager Glenys Moss has encountered many out dated kitchens in her career. She says if the walls, countertops, and cupboards are in good shape paint can work wonders. Other times it can take a bigger investment, but still there’s no need to break the bank. For instance take this kitchen.

Most people would say you have no choice but to replace it. That wasn’t a possibility in this case, and since the cabinet structure was sound Glenys proposed replacing the doors and drawer fronts.
The cabinet frames were sanded and painted and Glenys arranged for a friend to build and spray paint custom MDF fronts. This was the end result and it cost approximately $1000.00. As you can see Glenys also had the home owners remove all the clutter from the wall, paint the fake brick front and install a new faucet, diswasher and range hood. These changes are an excellent example of how you can make your kitchen a selling feature rather than a stumbling block to the sale of your home.
