Red Cliff is just off route 235 on the Bonavista Peninsula, on the same road as Open Hall and Tickle Cove. When you see the coolest shed on the Peninsula, with extraordinary whale murals, you have entered the picturesque town where the cricket scene was filmed for the Grand Seduction. Cranberry Cottage, a property with a view of the ocean, is a modified salt box, with two story linhay has been beautifully restored by the current owner. Hikers, boaters, berry pickers, fishers, geologists and nature lovers will enjoy this section of the Unesco Geopark. It is an extraordinary area for whale watching as orcas, Humpbacks, fins, sperm whales, and minkes frequent the area. The home is very special and represents traditional vernacular architecture at it's best, built by Hubert Hobbs in 1921, from where he opened the recessed shoe shine station before heading to the church, which he also built. The traditional layout included living room, dining room and kitchen with half bathroom and woodstove. The second level has three bedrooms and full bathroom with both soaker tub and shower. There are two wood sheds and an extraordinary two story shed with upper floor that served as a general store and lower level as workshop.
