Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove Community Profile
People traditionally fished and farmed in the area. Today there’s no fishing, but there are still two active dairy farms, Rose's and Kelly's. Most residents now work in St. John’s. The population of just under 2000 people is growing due to the community's close proximity to Stavanger Drive and easy commutes to downtown St. John's and Mount Pearl, as well as incredible natural beauty.
Most local homes are single-family, with few businesses in the area residents enjoy a quiet rural setting. You’ll never feel crowded, lots are a minimum of one acre. The mil rate is one of the lowest in the province at 4.5, although there is currently no water or sewer in the area. (Wells and septic tanks are used.)
Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove is a 10-minute drive north of St. John's. Great for photography, it is one of the best areas for viewing the mighty Atlantic Ocean. In fact, this area says "ocean" in every way. And the scenery can be, simply awe-inspiring and the area has attracted a number of executive home builds.
Logy Bay is a centre for scientific research, with Memorial University's Ocean Sciences Centre located there. The facility also houses a group of seals, and it has become a popular visitor attraction.
Middle Cove and Outer Cove were named for their locations right on the coast. The striking cliffs, waves, and exposed beaches can be seen from a number of roadside vantage points and this area impresses with its scenery. It's also a good area to see icebergs, in late spring and early summer when ice drifts down from the Arctic.
